Soprano Anne Sutton and local clarinettist Helen Smith join music director Jack Redman for a performance of Schubert’s delightful Shepherd on the Rock trio, with other light solo pieces for voice and clarinet.

Jack Redman is a British pianist, organist, composer and singer, currently Director of Music at St Peter’s Acton. Working primarily as a pianist, he specialises in song and chamber music accompaniment across musical genres. Career highlights include music staff credits for Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Lyric Opera Ireland and performances with The Sixteen and The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. He has performed at prestigious venues nationally including Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Cadogan Hall, and the Holywell Music Room in association with the Oxford International Song Festival.

Anne Sutton is a multidisciplinary artist working as a soprano and stage director. She was praised for her “bright and engaging” performance as a soloist in Bach’s St. John Passion with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and she recently made her Wigmore Hall debut as the soprano soloist in extracts from Bach’s B Minor Mass with Rachel Podger. She was an Associate Artist at Nevill Holt Opera, a Voces8 UK Scholar, and won second place and the early music prize in the AESS Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition. 

Helen Smith is a Royal College of Music alumna who studied clarinet under Dame Thea King. Since leaving the RCM she has played with many orchestras, including the Kingston Chamber Orchestra, with whom she also performed concertos such as those by Mozart, Weber, and Crussell. After leaving the RCM Helen created CADENZA, a weekly music class for children under 5, which continues today and she has written many songs for that age group which are available on all platforms.
